SEO Meta Tag Checker Extension Privacy Policy

Effective date: April 23, 2026

Summary

The HookRay SEO Meta Tag Checker Chrome extension reads the SEO meta tags of the current page and sends them to HookRay's AI endpoint to generate improvement suggestions. No account is required. Meta tag content is not retained after the response is returned.

Data we process

  • Meta tag content from the active tab (title, description, canonical, robots, Open Graph, Twitter cards) when you click Analyze.
  • Local extension storage for your daily free-usage counter.
  • The current tab URL, to show which page is being analyzed.

Data we do not collect

  • No personal accounts or login data.
  • No browsing history beyond the pages you explicitly analyze.
  • No analytics, ad tracking, or fingerprinting.
  • No long-term storage of analyzed tag content on HookRay servers.

Permissions

  • activeTab: used to read meta tags from the current page when you click Analyze.
  • scripting: used to execute a small DOM-reading script that collects the meta tag values. The script does not modify the page.
  • storage: used to track how many analyses you have used today against the free limit.
  • host_permissions (seo-metatag-api.vercel.app): used to call the AI suggestion endpoint operated by HookRay.

Third parties

The extension does not share data with advertising networks, analytics vendors, or unrelated third-party services. The AI suggestion endpoint is operated by HookRay and processes the submitted meta tag content only to generate the response.
